Spawn V: Escapement 2005 Escapement refers to the number of adult salmon escaping through the various fisheries to arrive at their natal spawning grounds. Estimates of salmon escapements have been made since the early 1900’s and include a variety of methods such as fence counts, mark and recapture and dead plus live counts. The colour coded rivers on the map refer to the escapement estimates of the chinook salmon in south western British Columbia.
